ISPE Notice: Andy T. McAfee
It is with the greatest of sadness that we inform you of the untimely death of Andrew T. McAfee, MD, MS, a beloved member of our pharmacoepidemiology community, who was killed on August 27 in a
motor scooter accident in Boston, MA.
A faculty member of the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics at the Harvard Medical School and an attending physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Andy was a gifted clinician, teacher and scholar. Andy was actively involved in ISPE for several years.
Andy used his gifts in service to the ISPE community in teaching a stimulating Introduction to Pharmacoepidemiology course at the Mid-Year and Annual Meetings for the past three years. There will be many ISPE members over the years to come who will look back on his inspiration of them in starting out in this field. He was just elected to chair the Education Committee.
Above all, Andy was a devoted husband to his wife, Jill Hahn, and their three children, Emma, Jordan and Elie, who were the center of his life and always foremost in his thoughts and decisions.
Our hearts are heavy in the wake of this inestimable loss for our community and his family.
The family has asked that remembrances may be made to the Beacon Academy, 477 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA, 02215-5396.,
